A Different Approach to Education
Intake months
Light Academy Secondary School stands at Lweza, off the Entebbe-Kampala Road along the Kajjansi to Munyonyo expressway. It began in 1999 in Kansanga with about 45 students and an O-Level section only, and has grown into a full O-Level and A-Level school recognised by the Ministry of Education and Sports.
The school follows the Ugandan national curriculum, assessed by UNEB, and has adopted the new competency-based lower secondary curriculum. Teaching leans on computer-aided learning, with three science laboratories, computer labs used for ICT, coding and robotics, a library, and pitches and courts for rugby, football, volleyball and basketball.
Boarders live in supervised hostels with 24-hour security, wireless internet for study, a school clinic and balanced meals prepared daily. The school day runs from 8:00 am to 4:27 pm, with extra classes from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, and parents are invited in on regular visitation days.
In 2026 Light Academy also announced a new girls' school, with pre-entry interviews open.
